William Beard is professor and Film Studies Program Director in the Department of English and Film Studies at the University of Alberta, where he has taught for many years. He is the author of three scholarly monographs: Persistence of Double Vision: Essays on Clint Eastwood, The Artist as Monster: The Cinema of David Cronenberg, and Into the Past: The Cinema of Guy Maddin, the co-edited anthology (with Jerry White) North of Everything: English-Canadian Cinema since 1980, and articles and book chapters on various topics in Canadian and American film, notably the cinemas of Clint Eastwood and Atom Egoyan.
