Thomas A. Horne is a Professor of Political Science at the University of Tulsa, where he teaches political philosophy and film. He has published books and articles on 18th-century thought, but more recently has written on films released in the first decade of this century that were critical of the second Iraq War and the attitudes that made it possible. Another of his essays, "The Illusionist: Political Power and Film Art," appeared in Bright Lights; "Goliath in the Valley of Elah" was published in War, Literature, and the Arts Vol. 23, 2011; and "James Mangold's 3:10 to Yuma and the Mission in Iraq" appeared in The Journal of Film and Video.
