Mark Palermo is a screenwriter and journalist. He co-wrote the 2012 cult teen comedy
Detention, directed by Joseph Kahn and distributed by Sony Pictures. Palermo served as the primary film critic for
The Coast, Halifax’s Weekly from 1999 to 2010, where he reviewed over 2,000 films, and has interviewed such filmmakers as Atom Egoyan, Rob Zombie, Mira Nair, Guillermo del Toro, and John Dahl. He has more recently had articles published in
Chicago Literati, Chud.com, and
Pop Matters. Palermo is currently working toward his masters of fine arts in creative nonfiction at the University of Kings College, and is writing a book about cinema and chaos.
