Ian Tan is an educator and writer based in Singapore, where he teaches Literature. He is interested in the interaction between film, literature, and philosophy in the cinema of Tarkovsky, Tarr, Sokurov, Zvyagintsev, and the Dardenne brothers, and has written and presented on these topics. His essay "Tarrying with the Nothing: Asking Anew Heidegger's Question of Being in the Cinema of Bela Tarr" has been published by Senses of Cinema.
