DOC NYC, a new documentary festival that runs from November 3-9, features more than 40 films, U.S. premieres, tributes, and appearances, among them both Errol Morris and Werner Herzog. Films will screen in New York City at the IFC Center and NYU’s Kimmel Center/Skirball, with a special screening at the Ziegfeld Theater of Darkness at the Edge of Town, Thom Zimny’s Bruce Springsteen concert film.
The selections include David Bowie, U2 and David Byrne concert films; a tribute to Kevin Brownlow; and the latest from Morris – Tabloid – and Herzog – Cave of Forgotten Dreams. If you’re in the area, it’s worth catching at least these two on the big screen. Both filmmakers are in peak form, Herzog making his first — spectacular — foray into 3D.
