Rooting for the Swan tonight. It’s truly revolutionary and daring, especially in its ending and overall vibe, much more so than KING’S SPEECH, which I think is it’s main competitor tonight, and is perfect white elephant vs. the Aronofsky termite – it really is I think a very good termite vs. white elephant challenge. If the SOCIAL NETWORK makes it instead, I’ll be surprised… I think it’s too ‘young’ for Oscar, and for a film world threatened by the internet’s inroads and illegal downloading.
Here’s a big piece I wrote in Acidemic arguing the superiority of SWAN. Especially in sound editing it’s a masterpiece, so god let it at least win there. (I’m assuming it’s nominated- god, I should check!)
